
DGCA Approves Summer 2025 Flight Schedule with More Domestic Flights
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the Summer Schedule 2025, which will see a slight increase in domestic flight operations across India. From March 30 to October 25, 2025, airlines will operate 25,610 weekly flights, up from 25,007 in the Winter Schedule 2024.
More Airports Added, Some Dropped
Flights will now connect 129 airports, compared to 124 in the previous schedule. New airports added include:
✅ Ambikapur, Datia, Bidar, Porbandar, Pakyong, Rewa, and Solapur.
However, flights from Azamgarh and Rupsi airports have been suspended for now. The schedule was finalized after a slot conference in February 2025, with approvals from airport authorities.
Domestic Air Travel on the Rise
India’s domestic air travel is steadily growing. In February 2025, airlines carried 1.40 crore passengers, up from 1.26 crore in February 2024, according to DGCA data.

- Air India Group (incl. Air India Express) – 27.3% (38.30 lakh passengers)
- Akasa Air – 4.7% (6.59 lakh passengers)
- SpiceJet – 3.2% (4.54 lakh passengers)
- Alliance Air – 0.6% (0.86 lakh passengers)
- Star Air – 0.4% (0.60 lakh passengers)
With more flights and increasing passenger numbers, India’s aviation sector continues to grow, improving connectivity across the country.
