Dhaka, Nov 20 — Bangladesh recorded 1,291 new dengue cases and six additional deaths on Sunday, bringing the total tally to 301,225 cases and 1,549 deaths since January this year, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The death toll for November alone stands at 201, contributing to a total of 30,080 new dengue cases reported during the first 19 days of the month. In October, 67,769 people were infected with the mosquito-borne disease.
The total number of recovered patients in Bangladesh is reported at 294,757, including 1,522 new recoveries on Sunday.
September witnessed the highest spike in dengue cases in Bangladesh, with 79,598 new infections and 396 deaths reported.
Dengue fever, transmitted through the bite of an Aedes mosquito, manifests as an acute illness with symptoms such as headache, high fever, exhaustion, severe muscle and joint pain, swollen glands, vomiting, and rash.
