New Delhi, Oct 20: In a big relief to Kashmiri migrant families living in the National Capital, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) VK Saxena has approved 170% hike in Adhoc Monthly Relief (AMR) for them from Rs 10,000 per month to Rs 27,000 per month.

The monthly relief is provided to the Kashmiri migrants under the Central Government’s Security Related Expenditure (Relief & Rehabilitation) Scheme, for supporting the relief and rehabilitation of the militancy-hit families.

The last increase in the AMR had been approved in 2007 when the amount was doubled from Rs 5,000 per family fixed in 1995.

At present, around 2,000 Kashmiri migrant families in the national capital receive AMR. The number is, however, expected to go up by nearly 70% due to an increase in “units” because of the rise in the number of family members.

The monthly expenditure incurred on AMR is about Rs 2.50 crore.
