New Delhi, Oct 21 : – Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the inaugural edition of the Indian Military Heritage Festival in New Delhi on Saturday. The two-day festival is designed to celebrate India’s rich military culture and heritage through various forms of expression, including conversations, art, dance, drama, story-telling, and exhibitions.

The festival aims to highlight different perspectives and understandings of India’s military history through panel discussions featuring eminent scholars, practitioners, and both serving and retired officers.

During the event, Rajnath Singh launched ‘Project Udbhav,’ a collaborative effort between the Indian Army and the United Service Institution of India. The project aims to promote indigenous discourse by integrating India’s ancient strategic acumen into contemporary military discussions.

Dignitaries present at the event included Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) Lt Gen JP Mathew, and Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh.

Rajnath Singh expressed that the Indian Military Heritage Festival would inspire the youth by showcasing the unmatched bravery and invaluable role of the Armed Forces in securing the country. He emphasized the festival’s role in fostering enthusiasm among the youth to learn more about the Indian military and its gallant deeds.

The festival aims to engage the public with military history and heritage, adhering to the goals of developing the Armed Forces in the 21st century. It also serves as a platform for discussions on contemporary issues related to India and the world, focusing on security, strategy, and international relations.

‘Project Udbhav’ is expected to become a center for indigenous strategic developments, rooted in India’s philosophical and cultural heritage, contributing to the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India) and ‘Make in India’ initiatives.”
