Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nov 28 – A Constitutional analyst announced on Monday that he will sit on hunger strike in front of the divisional commissioner’s office here from Mahatma Jyothiba Phule’s death anniversary (November 28) for his demand that the Election Commission should use ballot paper instead of EVMs (electronic voting machines) for elections.
Addressing a press conference here, analyst Anant Bhavre said, “I am an ordinary citizen of India and as a constitutional moral duty, I am entitled to the fundamental right of Freedom of Expression under Article 19(K) of the Constitution of India. Accordingly, I have made this demand to the Election Commission of India on behalf of all the countrymen.
It has been further demanded that all elections in the country should be conducted on ballot paper without EVMs and VVPAT, he said.
He further said that all the democratic countries in the world are now using ballot paper for all elections instead of EVMs.
In view of this, it is the demand of the countrymen that ballot paper and not EVMs should be used for all elections in the country, he pointed out.
By hacking the EVMs, certain political parties could benefit, he added.
