Mumbai, Oct 21: The Maharashtra government was forced to scrap contractual recruitment after Congress consistently raised its voice against such recruitment, state party chief Nana Patole said here on Friday.

“Contractual recruitments for various posts had sparked anger among the youth waiting for government jobs. The Congress stood firmly behind the youth and exposed the BJP government.

“Realising that the severe displeasure of the youth could dent their electoral outcomes, the government was forced to cancel the order for contractual recruitment. But even while doing that, Devendra Fadnavis has put the responsibility on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar,” said Patole.

Criticising the state government and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the issue, Patole said Fadnavis was putting teh blame on current chief minister Eknath Shinde and former CMs Sushil Kumar Shinde, Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan.

“More importantly, Fadnavis was the Chief Minister from 2014 to 2019, so why didn’t he cancel the Congress government’s contract recruitment GR then? And even now it has been 1.5 years since the Shinde government came to power, why has this GR not been canceled so far? he asked.

As soon as the Shinde government came to power, the contracts for developmental works given by the preceding Maha Vikas Aghadi regime was immediately stayed. “Then why did it take so long to cancel the contractual recruitment GR, Fadnavis should answer these questions first,” he added.
