Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli’s health and ongoing battle with addiction have once again raised concerns among fans and the cricket community.
At a recent event honoring legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar, Kambli was seen leaning on his close friend and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for support, struggling to keep his balance. A video of the moment quickly went viral, sparking worries about his well-being.
Marcus Couto, a former first-class umpire, shared insights into Kambli’s struggles. “He has serious health problems. Sending him to rehab isn’t helping—he’s been to rehab 14 times! We even took him to a center in Vasai three times,” Couto said.
Kapil Dev, another cricket legend, has also expressed support for Kambli. While sympathizing with his situation, Kapil urged Kambli to take active steps to improve his health.
Once considered one of India’s brightest cricketing talents alongside Sachin Tendulkar, Kambli’s career was cut short by disciplinary issues and personal challenges. Over the years, his addiction to alcohol has worsened, straining relationships with friends and peers.
At 51, Kambli has also faced serious health problems, including a heart attack in 2013 and angioplasty in 2012 to treat blocked arteries. These incidents were major turning points in his declining health.
This isn’t the first time Kambli’s struggles have made headlines. Earlier this year, a video showed him struggling to walk on the streets, further highlighting his deteriorating condition.
Fans and well-wishers continue to hope for Kambli’s recovery and urge him to take steps to regain his health and stability.
