Mahabubnagar – Telangana, Oct 19: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) made a commitment to developing Jadcherla Assembly Constituency in Mahabubnagar district, located near Hyderabad, into an IT hub and industrial center, emphasizing on his personal responsibility to make it a reality.
Speaking at an election gathering known as the “Praja Aashirvaad Sabha” (People’s Blessing Meeting) held in Jadcherla, where BRS candidate Dr Lakshma Reddy is contesting, KCR reflected on his strong connection with Mahabubnagar. He recalled the challenges faced during drought conditions and highlighted his role in the struggle for Telangana statehood when he was a Member of Parliament representing Mahabubnagar.
KCR also mentioned the historical issue of sharing water from the Krishna River, pointing out that the state government had opted for water sources from Srisailam instead of Jurala for the Palamuru-Lift Irrigation Scheme. He criticized some Congress leaders who now suggest Jurala as a water source, noting that Jurala’s capacity of 9 TMCs is insufficient.
Reflecting on the formation of Telangana state after a long and arduous struggle, KCR asserted that no one handed Telangana over; it was achieved through the sacrifices of the youth and his own indefinite hunger strike.
The Chief Minister provided updates on the progress of the Palamuru-Lift Irrigation Project, stating that all necessary sanctions had been obtained by the state government after nine years. He mentioned the completion of the Narlaapur, Edula, Vattem, and Uddandapur reservoirs, along with the installation of motors. KCR anticipated that water would flow within 3-4 months, effectively alleviating drought conditions in Palamuru. The completed project is expected to extend irrigation facilities to 1.50 lakh acres in the constituency, transforming Palamuru into a fertile and thriving district.
KCR appealed to the people to support BRS candidate Dr. Lakshma Reddy with an overwhelming majority.
