Mumbai,Oct 22: Maharashtra state chief minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday emotionally appealed to Maratha community youths do not take extreme steps like suicide.
I have promised to get reservation for the Maratha community. So my brothers don’t take extreme steps like suicide,he said.
Shinde said that, the state government is trying its best to provide reservation to the Maratha community that fits within the framework of the law and lasts while making an emotional appeal that you are worth millions to the family.
While interacting with the media representatives in Thane, the Chief Minister gave information about the efforts being made by the state government to provide reservation to the Maratha community.
Shinde further said that, suicide incidents of youth in Maratha community are unfortunate and sad and painful. I request my brothers in the community not to take extreme steps. Brothers, your life is worth a million,said Shinde.
The state government has filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court has accepted this petition on October 13, 2023. This is a comforting matter and supports the Maratha community in the matter of reservation.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also assured that the factual side regarding reservation will be effectively presented in the Supreme Court through the state government.
In Marathwada, the proceedings of the committee under the chairmanship of retired judge Sandeep Shinde are going on to issue Kunbi certificates based on old records. The Chief Minister said that the work of checking the records in depth is going on through the committee.
The Chief Minister also reiterated that he is also a son of a common farmer family and is committed to provide reservation to the society that fits within the framework of the law and is sustainable,he added.
