Mumbai, Nov 10 – Taking decisive action to combat rising pollution levels in the state, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde convened a meeting at the official Varsha bungalow on Thursday. He directed all administrative agencies to collaborate in a campaign mode for a pollution-free Maharashtra and implement measures to enhance the air quality index.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Shinde emphasized the need for synergy between the Municipal Corporation and state government systems to effectively execute measures aimed at improving air quality, particularly in cities like Mumbai.

To address dust pollution in the urban areas, Chief Minister Shinde proposed the appointment of a special team tasked with deploying 1,000 tankers to spray water and control dust on the streets of Mumbai.

Highlighting the importance of citizen involvement, he called for the creation of a public movement to prevent pollution and urged residents to actively participate in the campaign.

In his directives, Chief Minister Shinde emphasized the necessity of cleaning roads through water spraying to mitigate dust generated by ongoing construction and development projects across Mumbai. He called for the appointment of special teams dedicated to clearing accumulated dust and, if required, an increase in the number of tankers to 1,000 for thorough road cleaning.

Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed the enforcement of dust-free zones at all construction sites within the metropolitan area, including Mumbai, where development works are undertaken by MMRDA.

The proactive measures underscore the state’s commitment to addressing environmental concerns and ensuring a healthier living environment for its residents.
