New Delhi, Oct 6 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has leveled serious allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), claiming that the emergence of AAP leaders’ names in corruption cases signifies a culture of corruption within the party. BJP Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, speaking at the party headquarters in New Delhi, expressed disappointment, stating, “The Party, which had promised to add ethics to Indian politics, has become the most worthless party now.”

Trivedi criticized the AAP’s shift from its original agenda, saying, “The Aam Aadmi Party, which came with an agenda of establishing morals in the field of politics, now has become the most worthless party.” He asserted that experimental politics has no place in the current era, emphasizing India’s emerging role on the world stage.

Referring to the arrest of AAP leader Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the 2021-22 Delhi Excise policy case, Trivedi cited the Rouse Avenue Court’s observations. The court deemed the arrest warranted based on prima facie evidence and emphasized that the reality of the matter would be unveiled through further investigation.

Questioning the integrity of AAP’s policies, Trivedi raised the point, “If the policy was right, then why did AAP withdraw it after the CBI investigation?” He highlighted the withdrawal of the excise policy amid allegations of “foul play” by the opposition.

The ED’s investigation alleges that Sanjay Singh received significant funds from an accused-turned-approver in the case. This follows the arrest of AAP leader Satyendar Jain by the ED in May 2022 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) related to the same excise policy.

In contrast, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal dismissed these cases as false and fabricated, claiming that they aim to instill fear in opposition leaders. Kejriwal emphasized the detrimental impact of such an atmosphere of fear on the country’s progress, stating, “Not just politicians but also businessmen are being targeted.”

As the political landscape heats up with allegations and counter-allegations, the investigations into corruption cases involving AAP leaders continue, leaving the political future of the party in question.
