Mumbai, Nov.24: The Mumbai International Airport received a “threat” email on Thursday threatening to blow up Terminal 2, according to police.

To avoid the blast, the sender of the email demanded USD 1 million in Bitcoin within 48 hours. According to Mumbai police, Sahar police have registered a case against an unknown person for sending the threat email using the email id-quaidacasrol@gmail.com According to the police, the email was delivered to the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) feedback inbox around 11 a.m. on Thursday.

The email read “Subject: Blast. This is your final warning to your airport. Unless one million dollars in Bitcoin is transferred to the address, we will bomb Terminal 2 within 48 hours. Another alert will be issued in 24 hours.” A case has been filed against an unidentified individual under Sections 505 (1) (b) (statements made with intent to cause fear or alarm to the public or against the public tranquility) and 385 (putting a person in fear of injury to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are currently being conducted further.
