Mahoba, Nov 6: An Assistant Manager of Indian Bank was arrested by the police on Monday for embezzling Rs 18.68 lakh deposited in the accounts of the six customers in Panwari area of Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harshita Gangwar here said that the assistant manager of Panwari branch of Indian Bank Narain Singh Patel transferred Rs 18.68 lakh, deposited in the accounts of six customers, to the accounts of his relatives around 8 months back.
She said that when the incident came to fore, the bank lodged a police complaint against Patel and after taking departmental action he was suspended two months back.
“During preliminary investigation, the complaint was found to be true. Acting on a tip off, a police team arrested Patel from his residence in Jalaun district,” the DSP said.
Harshita said that the Assistant Manager has been sent to jail.
