The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, a significant spiritual pilgrimage, will resume in the summer of 2025, thanks to an agreement between India and China. This sacred journey allows devotees to visit Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet to seek blessings and peace.

Eligibility Criteria:

To take part in the Yatra, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: Indian citizens between 18 and 70 years old as of January 1, 2015.
  • Passport: A valid Indian passport with at least six months of validity as of September 1, 2015.
  • BMI: A Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27 or lower.
  • Health: Physically fit and free from conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, or epilepsy.

How to Apply:

Applications can be submitted through the Ministry of External Affairs website. While the application form is not yet available, applicants can download important documents like the Consent Form, Indemnity Bond, and Undertaking from the website.

Selection Process:

A fair, computer-generated random draw will select participants, ensuring equal representation of genders. Selected individuals will be assigned specific routes and batches. To confirm participation, they must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 5,000 by the given deadline.

Documents Required:

Once selected, pilgrims need to bring the following documents when reporting to New Delhi:

  • Valid Passport: An Indian passport with at least six months of validity.
  • Indemnity Bond: On non-judicial stamp paper, notarized by a First-Class Magistrate or Notary Public.
  • Undertaking: Agreement to be evacuated by helicopter in case of emergency.
  • Consent Form: Permission for cremation of remains on the Chinese side in case of death during the Yatra.

Medical Tests:

Selected participants must undergo medical tests at the Delhi Heart and Lung Institute and the ITBP Base Hospital in New Delhi. Additional assessments will be done by ITBP during the Yatra to monitor how participants handle high-altitude trekking.
