Vijayawada, Oct 19: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has instructed officials to maintain a constant vigil on the supervisory system in Anganwadis to ensure the successful implementation of ‘YSR Sampoorna Poshana.’ This directive came during a review meeting on the Women and Child Welfare Department held at the Camp Office.

Chief Minister Reddy emphasized the importance of developing robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the efficient functioning of the supervisory system, with a focus on ensuring the quality of dry ration distribution. He urged officials to take necessary steps to fill vacant positions within the department.

In addressing malnutrition and anaemia, Chief Minister Reddy outlined a coordinated effort between the Medical and Health Department and the Women and Child Welfare Department. While the former would be responsible for providing medicines to identified anaemic patients, the latter would ensure the delivery of nutritious food. Reddy stressed the need for constant monitoring to verify the consumption and progress of the anaemic patients.

To address missed vaccinations among children and pregnant women, Reddy instructed active involvement of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) in villages for priority vaccinations. The details of such cases should be shared between the Medical and Health Department and the Women and Child Welfare Department.

Additionally, Reddy called for monthly awareness camps to educate communities about emerging diseases and necessary preventive measures, acknowledging the changing lifestyle patterns leading to new health challenges.

Women and Child Welfare Minister KV Ushasri Charan and Finance Secretary KVV Satyanarayana were among the officials present during the review meeting.
