A dramatic incident unfolded as an Air China flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Singapore after one of its engines caught fire, resulting in injuries to nine passengers. The alarming event was captured in numerous pictures and videos that quickly circulated on social media.
The flight, identified as CA403, carried a total of 155 individuals, including crew members, and had departed from Chengdu, a southwestern Chinese city.

Singapore’s Changi Airport released a statement on Facebook, stating, “Flight CA403 originating from the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu experienced smoke in the forward cargo hold and lavatory during its journey to the city-state.”
The airport’s statement further confirmed that the emergency landing occurred at approximately 4:15 pm (0815 GMT) and emphasized that “all passengers and crew have been safely evacuated.” It also noted that the fire in the left engine had been successfully extinguished.
The Transport Safety Investigation Bureau has initiated an investigation into the incident and has reached out to its Chinese counterpart for assistance in determining the cause and circumstances surrounding the engine fire.
