Nov 11: In a momentous victory, Sikandar Shaikh secured the prestigious ‘Maharashtra Kesari’ award, emerging triumphant over former Maharashtra Kesari, Shivraj Rakshe, in a lightning-fast match that lasted only 23 seconds. This remarkable win, attributed to Shaikh’s exceptional wrestling prowess, underscores the dedication and hard work of the entire team supporting him.
Hailing from Mohol in Solapur, Sikandar Shaikh honed his wrestling skills at Ganga Ves Talim in Kolhapur under the guidance of Coach Chandrakant Kale. Expressing his gratitude, Shaikh dedicated his success to his father, cousins, and the unwavering support of his coach and teammates—namely, Ishwar Hargude, Uttamada, Yogesh Bambale, and Aslamada.
Shaikh’s journey to the ‘Maharashtra Kesari’ award faced a setback last year due to an alleged wrong decision by the umpires, but this year, he emerged victorious, clinching the prestigious title. His swift triumph in the tournament reflects not only his individual skill but also the collaborative effort of his dedicated support system.
