Land Rover has unveiled the 2025 Defender SUV in India, starting at ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom), featuring significant updates. The luxury SUV now offers a new V8 engine option, complementing the existing turbocharged petrol and diesel variants. The V8 models are priced ₹35 lakh more than the base variant and are available in Defender 90, 110, and 130 versions.
The 2025 Defender enters the competitive luxury SUV market, rivalling models like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jeep Wrangler, Volvo XC90, and Range Rover Velar.
The new 5.0-litre V8 P425 engine delivers 425 bhp and 610 Nm of torque, with additional options of 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines. The top-tier Octa variant comes with a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine generating 626 bhp and 750 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Defender in India.
Inside, the Defender features Windsor leather seats, 14-way heated and cooled front seats with memory, and climate-controlled second-row seating. Additional highlights include an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 3D surround camera, a panoramic sunroof, a Meridian sound system, and a center console refrigerator. The Defender 130 also offers captain chairs for easy third-row access.
Exterior updates include matrix LED headlights, a black contrast roof, 20-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels, and a soft-close tail door. Advanced off-road capabilities are provided by features like Terrain Response, Configurable Terrain Response, Electronic Air Suspension, and Adaptive Dynamics for a comfortable ride.
