Uber has launched a new service called ‘Uber Moto Women’ in Bengaluru, offering bike rides exclusively for women, with female drivers. This service was introduced on Thursday to provide a safer, more affordable, and convenient travel option for women.

The idea for Uber Moto Women came from feedback from women riders and drivers. It connects women passengers with women drivers, aiming to improve safety and mobility for women while giving female drivers flexible earning opportunities.

Abhishek Padhye, Head of Regional Business Operations at Uber India and South Asia, said, “This service not only provides a safer and more convenient option for women riders but also empowers female drivers to earn flexibly in the fast-growing mobility sector. Bengaluru is known for embracing innovation, and we’re excited to launch this service here as a step toward inclusive urban transportation.”

Key features of Uber Moto Women:

  • The service is available in major areas of Bengaluru.
  • Riders can share trip details with up to five trusted contacts for real-time tracking.
  • Phone numbers and drop-off locations are kept private for added safety.
  • Female drivers can choose to take rides from both women and men whenever they prefer, offering them complete flexibility.

The service also aims to encourage more women to become drivers by offering flexible work hours, shorter trips, and easy navigation.

To enhance safety, Uber uses its RideCheck feature, which monitors unusual activities like extended stops or unexpected route changes and offers assistance when needed. Riders and drivers also have access to Uber’s 24/7 Safety Helpline for support, prioritizing women’s safety.
