Two siblings apprehended in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir for alleged fraudulent activities

Srinagar, Nov 23: Police on Thursday arrested two brothers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district for allegedly swindling Rs 1.5 0 lakhs from a man under the pretext of marrying him.

Police Post Mirgund received an application from Ghulam Mohammad Bhat a resident of Dessa Doda at present Srinagar, stating that he has been fraudulently cheated by Mohammad Qasim Bhat of Gund Ibrahim, Trikolbal Pattan on the pretext of marriage.

The complaint said that he paid him about Rs 1,50,000 and when he asked for the return of the money the accused intimidated him of dire consequences.

In this regard a case under relevant sections of laws was registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation was taken up.

“Acting upon this, Police Party of Police Post Mirgund swung into action and after hectic efforts, accused person Mohd Qasim Bhat, alongwith his accomplice brother Nisar Ahmad Bhat have been arrested in the instant case and were shifted to Police Station Pattan were they remain in custody,” a police spokesman said.

He added that further investigation is going on.
