Agartala, Oct 5 : Tripura Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, reiterated the state’s commitment to generate 500 MW of power from renewable sources by 2030. Addressing an Energy Transition workshop, he mentioned Tripura Power Generation Limited’s efforts in installing 30 MW small hydropower plants. The state’s power demand is projected to reach 2,648 million units by 2031-32.

The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) plans to deploy solar grid power, floating solar, rooftop panels, and more. Additionally, a MoU with the National Thermal Power Corporation for a 130 MW floating solar plant has been signed. Dr. Saha emphasized India’s dedication to socio-economic growth while prioritizing environmental conservation through renewable energy promotion. The state has made significant strides in infrastructure, with TREDA setting up 20 MW renewable energy plants and TPGL working on 120 MW and 84 MW Combined Cycle Power Plants.
