
Trimbakeshwar Temple Gears Up for Maha Shivaratri: 24-Hour Darshan, Grand Celebrations, and Special Pujas Planned
Maha Shivaratri is an important festival for Lord Shiva’s devotees, and this year, it will be celebrated on February 26. On this special day, millions of worshippers come together to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings. One of the most famous Shiva temples, Trimbakeshwar Mahadev Temple, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, attracts thousands of visitors every year.
Temple Arrangements for Maha Shivaratri
The Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust has made important announcements for the festival:
- The temple will remain open for 24 hours over two days, from 4 AM on February 26 to 9 PM on February 27.
- Due to the huge crowd, VIP darshan and inner sanctum darshan will be suspended, and donation-based darshan will be closed on February 26.
Preparations & Celebrations
The temple will be beautifully decorated with electric lights and flowers at the sanctum, assembly hall, and main entrances. The trust has also planned three days of cultural events:
- February 24 (Monday): Mehndi ceremony
- February 25 (Tuesday): Haldi ceremony
- February 26 (Wednesday):
- In the afternoon, Lord Trimbakraj’s palanquin will leave the temple and follow a traditional route, with puja at Tirtharaj Kushavart.
- In the evening, the palanquin will return to the temple. During the procession, the Shiv Tandav group will perform the Aghor dance.
- The Natrang Academy from Pune will present a special dance program called “Shivarpanmasthu”, featuring actress Prajakta Mali and her team.
Special Puja on February 26
On the evening of February 26, a Laghu Rudra Abhishek (a special prayer) will take place at Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga. Later that night, there will be a grand Mahapuja and a special palanquin ceremony, as announced by the Chairman of the Devasthan Trust.
