Nashik, Nov 16: The city police have registered a criminal case against three people and detained one of them for allegedly killing a 31-year-old man over a minor issue at Pathardi Phata, near here.

On Sunday, the first day of Diwali festival, the members of one Shinde family living next door to the victim were bursting firecrackers outside their house at Swarajya Nagar in Pathardi village.

At this time, the victim asked them to burst crackers in an open field as his children were scared of sound, leading to an argument between the neighbours.

However, on Tuesday (yesterday), there was another argument between the two. Angry over this, some members of the Shinde family allegedly attacked their neighbour with a sharp weapon, resulting in his death, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Gaurav Tukaram Akhade (resident of Pathardi Phata, Nashik).

Following the incident, the Indiranagar Police has registered a case of murder and detained one person.

However, two others are still absconding, and search is on to nab them, sources added.
