Phagwara, Oct 19 : In a tragic incident near Village Khurampur on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road, a motorcyclist cop, identified as ASI Sukhdev Singh, lost his life when his bike collided with a stationary combine in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased, hailing from Chajjal village near Baba Bakala, was an ASI with the Phagwara police, presently posted at Rawalpindi police station. The accident occurred as Singh lost control of his bike and collided with the combine while en route to Phagwara. He was on his way to attend a court evidence case in the High Court and was coming to Phagwara to board a bus for Chandigarh. The body of the ASI was handed over to his family members after a post-mortem conducted at a local civil hospital.
In another unfortunate incident, an unidentified middle-aged man was run over by a moving train near Phagwara railway station on the previous night. The Government Railway Police (GRP) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether it was an accident, suicide, or a mysterious case. The GRP has kept the body in the mortuary of a civil hospital for identification after post-mortem.
