Varanasi, Oct 4: Eight persons were killed and a child was injured when an MUV collided head on with a truck in Phulpur area of Varanasi district here in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the incident took place around 4:30 am on Varanasi-Lucknow highway when the MUV collided with the truck in Karkhiyaon area. “While 8 persons were killed on the spot, a 3-year-old child was seriously injured in the accident,” they said.
Police sources said that the deceased were on a religious tour to Varanasi and were returning to Pilibhit district after paying obeisance at Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Five of the deceased have been identified as Vipin Yadav, his mother Ganga Yadav, Mahendra Verma, his wife Chandrakali and Rajendra Yadav. “Efforts are being made to if

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over loss of lives in the accident and has directed the officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
