Chennai, Nov 17 – In a devastating accident, five individuals, including two couples, lost their lives when the car they were traveling in collided with a tanker lorry at Manakadavu village near Dharapuram in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday night.
The victims, who had attended a wedding event in Palani, Dindugul district, were returning home when the tragic incident occurred.
The deceased, including three women, were identified as Balakrishnan (65) and his wife Selvi (50), Tamil Mani (50) and his wife Chitra (45), and Ms Kalarani (55). Four individuals, including the couples, lost their lives on the spot, while one person succumbed to injuries after being shifted to Dharapuram government hospital.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister expressed deep grief and anguish over the tragic deaths, announcing a solatium of Rs two lakh to the families of the deceased.
