Chennai, Oct 25: Tragedy struck when an SUV collided with a Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation (TNSETC) bus near Chengam town in Tiruvannamalai district, resulting in the death of seven people and injuring four others. The victims, hailing from Assam and working in a gum factory near Hosur, were returning from Puducherry during the puja holidays. The collision occurred when the SUV, driven by S. Puneeth Kumar, attempted to overtake another vehicle. The impact left the SUV mangled, and the victims were rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai. The incident caused traffic disruption for over an hour. This marks the second major accident in the Chengam area within ten days, following a car-lorry collision on October 15 that claimed seven lives.
