Srinagar, Oct 21 – In a significant move, police in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir have booked three notorious drug smugglers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act. The wanted criminals, identified as Musadiq Afzal Masoodi (alias Vicky) from Pampore Pulwama, Mohammad Shafi Hajam from Wanigam Bala, and Ghulam Hassan Ganie from Trikanjan Boniyar, have been formally detained under the PIT-NDPS Act.
The police, armed with formal detention orders from the competent authority, have taken these drug smugglers into custody and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
These individuals, considered the most wanted in the region, were involved in numerous cases related to drug trafficking, contributing to the rise of drug abuse among the local youth in Baramulla, Uri, Pattan Boniyar, and other areas of District Baramulla. Despite facing multiple FIRs, the accused continued their illicit activities, promoting drug abuse by supplying narcotics to the local youth.”
