Pune, Oct 14 : Pune city police apprehended three individuals from Bihar on Thursday in connection with a scam that targeted a construction company based in the Kothrud area of Pune. The accused, posing as directors, allegedly duped employees from the Accounts department of the construction company out of Rs 66 lakh.

The fraudsters, employing a sophisticated tactic, contacted the employees on their mobile phones, displaying original display pictures (DPs) of the company’s board members on their own mobile devices. By leveraging this deceptive technique, the accused convinced the Accounts department staff to transfer funds to specified bank accounts.

The illicit transactions occurred in three installments over a span of a few days before the victims reported the fraudulent activity to the Cyber police. Subsequently, the police conducted an investigation and arrested the main culprit along with two accomplices in Siwan district, Bihar.

The arrested individuals, identified as Bilal Ansari and Kamran Ansari, were brought before a city court and remanded in police custody until October 13. The police seized 36 SIM cards from various mobile companies, eight mobile phones, 19 ATM cards from different banks, two cheque books, one country-made pistol, and six live cartridges during the arrests.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to uncover further details surrounding the scam and ensure justice for the defrauded construction company.
