Hyderabad, Oct 17: The President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, A Revanth Reddy, MP, and several Congress leaders were arrested as they attempted to enter the Martyrs’ Stupam in Gun Park on Tuesday.
Notably, just two days prior, Revanth Reddy had issued a challenge to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (CM KCR) regarding the conduct of elections without resorting to the distribution of money and alcohol. He invited CM KCR to join him at the Martyrs’ Stupam in Gun Park at 1300 hours on Tuesday to make a commitment on this matter.
In response, Revanth Reddy, along with other Congress leaders and activists, made their way to Gun Park.
However, police intervened and prevented them from entering the Martyrs’ Stupam in accordance with the Model Code of Conduct.
A tense standoff ensued, with heated arguments exchanged between the police and Congress leaders.
Subsequently, the police took Revanth Reddy, Congress leaders, and activists into custody and transported them in a police vehicle.
