Kolhapur, Sep 5 The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a tax inspector while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant at State Goods & Services Tax (GST) Commissioner’s office here.
Accused Vishal Babu Hapate (35), a resident of Hatkanagale tehsil town in the district, who was working as GST tax inspector (class-2) at State Tax Commissioner GST Bhavan, Kasaba Bavda, Kolhapur, had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from complainant for not taking legal action on his businessman friend for not paying GST, an official press release said here.
However, complainant informed about this to the city unit of ACB, whose team laid a trap at GST office in the afternoon and caught red-handed Hapate with bribe money, it added.
