Anamika Sharma, a skydiver from Uttar Pradesh, made history by raising the Mahakumbh flag at 13,000 feet above Bangkok. This daring act was done just before the start of Mahakumbh, the world’s largest religious gathering, which began in Prayagraj on Monday. Over 400 million people are taking part in the event, gathering at the Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet.

Sharma, who is from Prayagraj, performed this amazing feat on January 8. A video of her jumping from a plane and proudly displaying the Mahakumbh flag has gone viral online, receiving a lot of praise. The video was shared with the caption, “Inviting people all over the globe for the world’s largest human gathering, Mahakumbh 2025.”

Social media users were inspired by her act. One wrote, “I hope you serve as a motivation to women in Prayagraj.” Another commented, “This is pure devotion and daring combined. What a way to promote Mahakumbh.” Others called it an incredible and adventurous way to showcase India’s heritage.

The Mahakumbh, which began on Monday, is expected to draw more than 400 million devotees over six weeks. People from around the world are coming to Prayagraj to take holy baths at the Sangam during this festival.

Mahakumbh is held every 12 years and is the largest version of the Kumbh Mela, which rotates every three years among four cities. The word “Maha” means “great,” highlighting the significance of this massive gathering of faith and culture.
