Mumbai, Oct 14: National Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in Maharashtra during a press conference at Yashwantrao Chavan Center in Mumbai. Pawar highlighted the alarming increase in the number of missing women and girls, totaling over 19,000 in the past five months, with 1,453 being under 18 years of age.
Addressing the issue, Pawar called on the state government to prioritize and address the issue promptly. He emphasized the need for serious attention from the state government and the Home Ministry, urging them to devise a remedial plan to tackle the concerning situation.
In addition to the missing persons crisis, Pawar criticized the government’s decision to recruit teachers on a contractual basis. He revealed that a delegation of teachers had approached him, expressing their grievances about unfulfilled promises by the present government.
Pawar raised questions about the government’s move to recruit police personnel on a contractual basis for only 11 months, expressing skepticism about the effectiveness of such a short-term arrangement. He advocated for permanent recruitment to ensure stability and transparency in the system.
Concluding his statements, Pawar called for a reevaluation of the government’s decisions and a commitment to addressing the pressing issues facing the state, both in terms of law and order and employment practices.
