Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Michaung' Crosses AP Coast, Landfall Process Underway

Hyderabad, Dec 5- The Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Michaung’ (Pronounced as Migjaum) over WestCentral Bay of Bengal along and off South Andhra Pradesh Coast moved Northwards with a speed of 10 Kmph during the past 6 hours and lay centred at 1330 hours on Tuesday afternoon over AP Coast near Latitude 15.65° North and Longitude 80.25° East close to South of Bapatla, about 30 Km Southwest of Bapatla.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin a short while ago said the system is now ‘crossing the Coast’ with windspeed of 90-100 Kmph gusting to 110 Kmph.

It said the landfall process will be completed during the next two hours.

The system is likely to move nearly northwards and weaken into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 2 hours, the bulletin added.
