Nov 04: A special ceremony honouring Sachin Tendulkar was held the day India played Sri Lanka in the ICC ODI World Cup match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In front of his family and other dignitaries, a statue of the fifty-year-old was unveiled at the location. The Sachin Tendulkar stand is next to the statue, which shows a graceful lofted hit. This stadium is both his home field and the location where, in 2011, he fulfilled a childhood dream by helping India win the World Cup.

As per further information, after the statue was inaugurated, cricket fans expressed their happiness & joy to the fullest. However, several cricket fans have criticized the statue as they believe that it looks more like an Australian cricketer Steve Smith. Fans have taken it to X to express their feelings about the statue.

An X user tweeted “In a surprising twist at the 33rd ICC World Cup, Wankhede Stadium unveiled a statue during the India vs Sri Lanka match. But to everyone’s amazement, it wasn’t Sachin Tendulkar’s statue; it looked more like Australian cricket legend Steve Smith.”

Another X user tweeted “BCCI made Steeve Smith’s statue in place of Sachin Tendulkar. The BCCI secretary doesn’t even know Sachin’s face. If dynast becomes the head of BCCI this will happen.”

Another X user tweeted “Sachin Tendulkar’s statue At Wankhede Stadium Looks More Like Steve Smith Than The God Himself.”

Another X user tweeted “A statue of Steve Smith has been installed at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. It was unveiled by the great Sachin Tendulkar himself yesterday.”

With an incredible total of 34357 runs across all formats between 1989 and 2013, Tendulkar continues to hold the record for most runs in international history. Additionally, he continues to be the only batter with 100 centuries at the international level.
