Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nov 28 – Havoc of unseasonal rains across the Marathwada region claimed one human life, nine domestic animals, and 23 small animals in different parts of the division, said Divisional Commissioner official sources Monday afternoon.
According to the source , 40.4 mm of average heavy unseasonal rains, including heavy rains in 107 revenue circles, were recorded until the early hours of Monday, and still rains were continuing in several parts of the region. In Hingoli district, one person died in a rain-related incident, while three small animals, including two goats, died during the heavy rains.
A report from Jalna district stated that three domestic animals and 15 sheep died due to heavy rainfall.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, five domestic animals, including four cows, one bullock, and three goats, died. While in Nanded district, one buffalo and two goats died during the rains, they added. The report also stated that at many places, standing crops were damaged.
However, the unseasonal rainfall is likely to help recharge the water resources in the region, which were empty due to the scanty rainfall during the monsoon period, and to some extent, help end water scarcity.
