Jammu, Nov 11: Around 64 pilgrims and visitors can relish traditional delicacies and other meals at one-time in one of the unique restaurants—’Restaurant on Wheels’—transformed from an old railway coach at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station in the holy Katra town of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

An official here on Friday said that the coach-turned-restaurant was dedicated to the pilgrims by the railway officials, wherein they could enjoy delicious food.

The ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ has been built under the Food on Wheels concept, and the fully air-conditioned restaurant has the latest decor, along with 16 tables and 64 chairs, giving it a modern look, said an official.

The ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ has been introduced under the concept of transforming an abandoned old railway coach into a restaurant, adding that “at a time, 64 people can relish food inside the restaurant while enjoying its ambience, and the facility will be available 24×7 for the visitors.”

“The facility has been introduced for a period of 5 years, and it is equipped with a variety of features and specialties, including free WiFi,” he added.

“This unique initiative has been launched to generate revenue for the railway department by providing good-quality food,” he stated.
