New Delhi, Nov 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the demise of Justice M. Fathima Beevi, the pioneering first woman judge of the Supreme Court. In a tribute, PM Modi acknowledged her as a true trailblazer, breaking barriers and inspiring women with her remarkable journey.

Justice Beevi, appointed to the apex court in 1989, not only made history as the first female judge in the Supreme Court but also as the first Muslim woman in higher judiciaries in India. Born on April 30, 1927, in Kerala, she passed away at the age of 96 in Kollam. The PM extended heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, recognizing her significant contributions to the legal field. May her soul rest in peace.
