Nashik, Nov 8: Two people, including a police constable and a private person, were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Nashik while allegedly accepting Rs 35,000 as an installment of a bribe from a complainant here on Tuesday.
Constable Ravindra Balasaheb Malle, attached to Nashik Taluka police station, had demanded Rs one lakh as bribe from complainant for releasing his seized truck and to not register a complaint against him.
After bargaining, constable Malle agreed to accept Rs 70,000 through a private person, sources in ACB said.
However, complainant informed about this to the city unit of ACB, whose team laid a trap at Om Nagpur Transport office near Hirawadi Nashik and caught red-handed one Tarun Mohan Todi, a private person, while accepting first installment of bribe of Rs 35,000 from complainant on behalf of Malle.
Then, constable Malle was also arrested for demanding bribe.
A complaint was registered at the Panchavati police station against the duo, sources added.
