Police Bust Burglary Gang in Budgam, Recover Stolen Property in Swift Operation

Srinagar, Oct 23: In a commendable display of efficiency, the police in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, managed to apprehend a gang of burglars within two days of the reported crime and successfully recovered stolen property valued in lakhs.

The incident unfolded when a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Khansahib by Aijaz Ahmad Ganie on October 21, 2023. The complaint detailed a burglary at his residence during the intervening night of October 19/20, where thieves made away with copper utensils, high-end clothing, artificial jewelry, and gold items, all collectively valued in lakhs.

Promptly registering a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police initiated investigations. Subsequently, several suspects were apprehended for questioning. Notably, Farooq Ahmad Ganie, alias Dil Jalay, confessed to his involvement during rigorous interrogation and provided crucial information about the stolen items.

Following this breakthrough, the police swiftly recovered the stolen property, including copper utensils, clothing, artificial jewelry, and gold articles. The investigations further unveiled the identities of accomplices involved in similar thefts.

Asif Rashid Mir, also known as “Ubaid,” residing in Dabipora, and Maqsood Ahmad Gojri of Soznipora, were brought in for questioning and admitted their involvement in multiple theft cases. The subsequent searches resulted in the recovery of a diverse range of stolen items, such as laptops, desktops, LED screens, gas cylinders, sheep, copper utensils, inverters, batteries, generators, water motors, and pipes, collectively valued at approximately 4-5 lakhs.

Additionally, Showkat Ahmad Dar of Rawalpora Watrihail was arrested for his role as a receiver of stolen property.

These arrests and the subsequent recoveries have successfully resolved three cases under investigation at Police Station Khansahib. The police express their commitment to ongoing investigations, anticipating more recoveries and arrests in the near future.
