Nagpur, Dec 8 – Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, Vijay Vadettiwar on Thursday demanded a full loan waiver for farmers as 22 districts of Maharashtra have been hit, with crops like cotton, paddy and onions damaged by unseasonal rains.

He also alleged that a meeting of the sub-committee concerned was not held. Therefore, the proposal did not go to the centre.

The present government has “neglected” one thousand talukas and 22 districts of Maharashtra which were severely damaged in November, he said.

Panchnama was ordered but it was not done, he added. There is a need to waive loans immediately, he said.
