Srinagar, Nov 23: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah expressed his apprehensions about the BJP’s policies, claiming that the party’s focus on Muslim interests is taking a legal form. Addressing a workers’ convention in central Kashmir’s Beerwah area, Omar criticized the recent Uttar Pradesh government order banning halal-certified foods.

He warned that the National Conference is fighting for the restoration of Article 370 to prevent a situation similar to Uttar Pradesh’s from occurring in Jammu and Kashmir. Omar accused the BJP of permitting discrimination against Muslims through laws, urging people to resist the party’s divisive ideology.

Omar questioned why Muslims under BJP rule are facing such policies and called on those supporting the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir to raise their voices against it. He emphasized that the party is fighting to save Article 370 and restore statehood to prevent the repetition of discriminatory measures against Muslims.

Criticizing BJP’s promises post the abrogation of Article 370, Omar highlighted unfulfilled vacancies, lack of concrete steps for unemployed youth, and ongoing crises in basic utility services. He urged party associates to strengthen the J&K National Conference at the grassroots to prevent a situation akin to Uttar Pradesh from unfolding in Jammu and Kashmir.
