Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: For the first time Odisha exported two metric ton cashew nuts to Bangladesh.
The cashew nuts, sourced from the company ‘’Passion Gourmet”, run by a woman entrepreneur in Odisha was exported by M/s Paaf Global Pvt. Limited.
The shipment was flagged off by APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dav.
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, facilitated the first-ever shipment of cashew nuts from Odisha to Bangladesh.
The initiative holds significance as it aligns with the broader mission of promoting women-led businesses and developing economic growth in the region.
APEDA, in collaboration with the Odisha Government organised an Export-Oriented Capacity Development Program here on Thursday to sensitize Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), to venture into the field of agriculture exports to mark this historic occasion and to celebrate the National Cashew Day today.
Subsequent shipments of cashew nut from Odisha are being planned for some other global destinations including Bahrain and Qatar, as committed by the exporter.
