Srinagar, Nov 10: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, who recently assumed office, has directed district and range heads in Kashmir to prioritize quality investigations in terror crimes and narco-terror-related cases. The directive aims to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the region. In an interactive meeting with Deputy Inspector General ranges and District SPs, IGP Birdi emphasized the importance of improving overall policing at the police station and sub-divisional levels, focusing on refined record-building and investigation processes. He urged officers to enhance public relations and prioritize addressing public grievances, making it a top priority.

The IGP stressed the need for transparent and efficient policing, emphasizing coordination with sister agencies in the valley. Birdi, a 2003 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has previously served in key positions in Jammu and Kashmir, including as DIG police in north and central Kashmir. He returned to the region after serving on central deputation, where he held the position of Inspector General, CRPF Jharkhand Sector. His repatriation to Jammu and Kashmir followed a request from the state government.
