Hyderabad, Dec 8 – The first cabinet meeting of the newly formed congress government in the state on Thursday evening decided to go ahead with implementation of two out of the six guarantees from December 9, on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday, including free travel for women TSRTC buses.
Newly-elected Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy signed two files after taking oath on Thursday — first to implement six poll guarantees and second to provide jobs to a disabled woman promised during the recent election campaign.
Addressing the media after the first cabinet meeting held immediately after taking the oath of Chief Minister by Revnath Reddy at the state Secretariat here, Ministers D Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar said that these two guarantee scheme launching from December 9, to provide free travel for women in TSRTC buses across state and the enhancement of coverage under Rajiv Aarogyasri health insurances scheme to Rs 10 lakhs.
While referring to the free travel scheme for women, Prabhakar said the beneficiaries would have to produce some sort of identity card, like the Aadhar Card and any issues that could crop up in implementation of the scheme would be sorted out, he added
Sridhar Babu said that the remaining four guarantees would be held in due course of time, with all the guarantees to be implemented within 100 days.
The implementation of the two guarantees that would be launched coinciding with Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi’s birthday on Saturday, would be discussed with the departments concerned again on Friday, said Sridhar Babu.
The cabinet also decided to bring out a white paper on the financial status of the State, detailing the income and expenditure of the previous government, he said, and adding that supply of 24 x 7 power for all sectors, industrial, agriculture, and domestic, would be a top priority for the State government,
Sridhar Babu said officials would be asked to give a detailed report on the power situation in the State from 2014.
The Chief Minister would hold a review meeting on Friday on the Gruha Jyothi scheme, which assures 200 units of free electricity for all households, he said, adding that officials would also be asked to assess the crop damage in the wake of the recent rains.
