Nagpur, Dec 9 – Coming down heavily on Maharashtra’s Eknath Shinde dispensation, state Congress chief Nana Patole on Friday alleged that the government was busy announcing that it has done a lot for farmers, who have not got anything.

If the government was ready to discuss farmers’ woes in the House, then why wasn’t it taking up the discussion, he asked. “If farmers’ issues are not discussed in the House today, we are not interested in any discussion,” he further said.

The state has a debt burden of Rs 7 lakh crore and will recover the debt from the farmers. So why are they reluctant to pay the farmers, he asked.
Raising the issue of farmers during the discussion in the Legislative Assembly, Patole said farmers’ issues should be discussed in the House on Friday itself.

“We have come here to discuss the issue of the farmers, the public, and not to create confusion, we could have created confusion and shut down the House. But we want to discuss,” he said.

He said the cotton, paddy, orange, soybean, grape, onion and milk farmers have suffered huge losses, and so their problems must be discussed on Friday itself.

Patole also alleged that MLAs of the ruling parties were being given crores of funds while lawmakers of opposition parties stood ignored.
