Mau (UP), Nov 8: Umar Ansari, the younger son of mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who was wanted in a provocative speech case surrendered in an MP-MLA court here in Mau district on Wednesday, sources said.
It may be noted that during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections Mukhtar’s sons Abbas Ansari, who was a candidate from Mau Sadar seat, and Umar Ansari gave provocative speeches. A case was lodged against Abbas and Umar for the violation of the model code of conduct.
While Abbas had surrendered before the court and is currently lodged in the jail, Umar was absconding from the last 19 months. The court had also issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
Sources said that Umar surrendered in the MP-MLA court of Judge Shweta Chaudhary. Heavy police reached the court premises after getting information about Umar’s surrender.
