Nagpur, Dec 19 – To enhance the travel experience of passengers, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 600 crore to help transform the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus stands in the state.
According to the official press statement issued late Monday, stated that, the MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Vidhan Bhavan.
Industries Minister and MIDC Chairman Uday Samant, Transport Department Principal Secretary Parag Jain-Nainotia, MSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vivek Bhimanwar, MIDC, and senior officials of MSRTC were present on the occasion.

In his address, Chief Minister Shinde emphasised the importance of bus stands, as it is an important component of the MSRTC bus service, which is the lifeline of the common people in the state.
As part of the government’s plans to enhance public transportation, Chief Minister Shinde said these 193 bus stands in the state are being beautified under the Swachh, Sundar Bus Station campaign of Hindu Heart Emperor Balasaheb Thackeray. For this, an MoU of Rs 600 crore was signed between MIDC and MSRTC Corporation.


MSRTC has 609 bus stands across the state. Out of which, 563 bus stations are currently functioning. Due to potholes in the area of the bus stand and mud that accumulates during monsoons, passengers have to face difficulties. MSRTC buses are also damaged.


Shinde, who requested financial assistance from MIDC for MSRTC during the Amritmahotsav function, has signed a MoU in response to the CM’s appeal.
According to this, in the first phase, MIDC is going to conduct a tender process for 193 MSRTC bus stands, costing Rs 500 crore for concretization and Rs 100 crore for painting and minor repairs. This will transform all these bus stations very soon. With this response and initiative of MIDC, Shinde appreciated, the statement added.
