Mumbai, Nov 25: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Friday demanded that the state government should end the fighting between Maratha and OBC communities in the state over reservation issue.
Talking to media in Nagpur, he alleged that the Maratha vs OBC dispute which has been going on in the state for past few days is being fuelled deliberately.
He claimed that the dispute between two communities is state-sponsored and the government should
intervene to stop strife between the two communities.
The MPCC chief asked the ruling BJP to fulfil promises made to the Maratha, OBC and Dhangar communities.
“If the government is saying that it will not commit injustice against any community, then it should explain to the people what exactly it will do. But the role of the government is not clear,” he noted.
Blaming the state government for ignoring problems of farmers, unemployment and inflation, he charged that the government does not understand sentiments of farmers, unemployed youth and common people.
But the basic issues that the people are facing is important for Congress, he asserted and accused BJP of being an anti-reservation party.
The Prime Minister of the country was trying to end reservation, Patole charged.
Stressing that he position of Congress on reservation issue is clear, he maintained that only the caste-wise census can solve the problem of reservation for all communities including Maratha, OBC and Dhangar communities.
