Mumbai, Nov 4: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday condoled the death of veteran businessman Atul Bedekar, describing him as the “brave heir” of the old Marathi industrial group that brought the culture of Marathi cuisine to homes and hearts.
Bederkar, the spice and pickles king, and Director of the V. P. Bedekar & Sons group died after a prolonged illness early Friday.
In a condolence message, Shinde said that the industrial group of the Bedekar family has set the standard in the course of centuries.
“Atul Bedekar represented the fourth generation of this industrial group. With his courage, he made changes in this industry group with time and continued the horse race. Due to his death, the guiding link between old and new generations has been broken,” he said.
